Atlas Roadshow Hits Top Gear In AlabamaBy Tiara Searcy, Marketing
The Atlas Roadshow hit the accelerator when it rolled into Birmingham, AL on Aug. 17, attracting some 200 participants from all over the Southeast for an exciting event at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum.
“We were really thrilled about this event,” said Stan Bastek, Director of Marketing and Sales Development/Shingles and Underlayment Division. “There is an energy and a vitality in this venue that you just can’t find anywhere else. We were also very pleased to have contractors from as far away as Florida and Tennessee with us to learn about Atlas products and marketing programs for their businesses.”
The museum boasts the largest collection of motorbikes in the world – about 1,400 total – and Roadshow participants were free to walk through at their own pace, admiring the bikes, as well as the Lotus car collection and other memorabilia.
The Atlas Roadshow is an annual series of contractor events in six major markets around the country, connecting with contractors who currently use or are interested in trying Atlas products. Roadshow information is designed to help contractors strengthen the business skills that set them apart from the competition and boost their bottom line.
In Birmingham, attendees learned how Atlas shingles featuring Scotchgard™ Protector could help them land more jobs as well as how to become a 3M Scotchgard™ Sales Specialist. Attendees also participated in hands-on demonstrations such as the “ball drop test,” in which they dropped a heavy steel ball on Atlas StormMaster® shingles, the brand’s impact-resistant product, to simulate hail.

Breakout sessions included:
- How HP Shingle Technology saves time and money.
- How Atlas shingles compare to other brands, and how better shingles make the contractor’s job easier.
- How Atlas Class 4 Impact Resistant Shingles and premium underlayment can benefit any application.
- 10 tips to boost your social impact.
More than 150 contractors received professional headshots, one of the free benefits offered at Roadshow events. Later, during the popular “What’s That Streaking?” game, enthusiastic participants really got into the spirit, shouting out answers as they competed for more than $5,000 in giveaways. Prizes ranged from 3M safety buckets and iPads to a grand prize of a $1,000 road trip gift card.
“The Roadshow gave me the chance to get to know Stan and the Atlas team. It was the perfect opportunity to ask detailed questions about the products I’ve been using,” said Jody Rodgers, owner of Cardinal Roofing in Birmingham, AL. “The breakout sessions were informative and the venue was incredible. How can you turn down the chance to see such an amazing collection of motorcycle history!”
