They say that everything is bigger in Texas — and the latest third-to-last stop on the 2016 Atlas Roadshow was no exception.

Held at the Marriott North in Houston on Sept. 1, the roadshow attracted more than 150 contractors, many of them eager to learn more about Atlas products.

“The momentum is building,” said Stan Bastek, director of marketing and sales development. “This is one of the best events we’ve had. Our crowds are getting more enthusiastic and we are seeing more new contractors interested in offering their customers the benefits of Atlas shingles.”

An annual series of contractor events in six major markets around the country, Atlas Roadshows connect the company with contractors who currently use or are interested in learning more about and trying Atlas products. Roadshow information is designed to help contractors strengthen the business skills that set them apart from the competition and boost their bottom line.

At the end of the 2016 roadshow season, two events remained: Jackson, MS, on Oct. 13 and Atlanta on Oct. 26. The Jackson event was held at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum and included a raffle of signed sports memorabilia. The Atlanta event was held at Turner Field and included a final tour of the stadium before it was reconfigured to be college football stadium and the Braves moved to SunTrust Park in 2017.

Only two Roadshows remain – Jackson, MS on Oct. 13 and Atlanta on Oct. 26. The Jackson event will be held at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum and will include a raffle of signed sports memorabilia. Atlanta will be held at 'Turner Field' and will include a final tour of the stadium.

In Houston, company officials shared with contractors how Atlas shingles featuring Scotchgard™ Protector can help them land more jobs. Attendees also learned how to become a 3M Scotchgard™ Protector Sales Specialist and participated in hands-on demonstrations such as the “ball-drop test,” in which they dropped a heavy steel ball on Atlas StormMaster® shingles, the brand’s impact-resistant product, to simulate hail.

  • How Atlas shingles compare to other brands, and how better shingles make the contractor’s job easier
  • How Atlas Class 4 impact resistant shingles and premium underlayment can benefit any application
  • 10 tips to boost your social impact

Contractors also received professional headshots, one of the free benefits offered at Atlas Roadshow events.

During the “What’s That Streaking?” game, attendees showed true competitive spirit as they vied for more than $5,000 in giveaways. Prizes ranged from 3M safety buckets and iPads to a grand prize of a $1,000 road trip gift card.

“These Atlas guys really know their algae!” said Nathan Rosamond, owner of Rosamond Elite Roofing and Construction in League City, TX, after the game. “It was an interesting way to end a day of learning about Atlas products. I had seen but never used StormMaster or other Atlas shingles, but the roadshow convinced me that I should add them to my product lineup.”
